Challenge

Cold therapy should be simple—but most solutions are anything but. Inflatable tubs, cheap plastic bins, and DIY setups lack durability, insulation, and ease of use. Users deserve a purpose-built solution that makes cold therapy effortless, effective, and part of their daily routine.

Ask

What if we designed Ice Barrels that was more than just something that holds cold water? What if we built it specifically for cold therapy users—engineered for durability, maximum insulation, accessibility, and an unmatched user experience?

Customer

Before designing Ice Barrel, we set out to understand what cold therapy practitioners truly needed. Through deep conversations and hands-on research, we found that most existing options failed in three key areas—materials, aesthetics, and convenience.

Our customers weren’t just looking for something that holds cold water; they cared deeply about what it was made of, how it looked, and how it fit into their lifestyle. They wanted a durable, well-designed product that felt intentional—not like an afterthought. But more than anything, they needed a solution that reduced the hassle of cold therapy—less ice, better temperature retention, and minimal maintenance.

  • Customers wanted a product that was built to last, but many existing options were made from thin plastic, prone to cracking, or difficult to maintain. Additionally, sustainability mattered—people were looking for eco-conscious optionsthat aligned with their values.

  • One of the biggest frustrations we uncovered was how quickly water warmed up, forcing users to constantly add ice and increasing the overall cost of cold therapy. Many tubs were not designed with proper insulation, making them inefficient and difficult to maintain.

  • For many, ice baths felt intimidating or physically difficult. Existing solutions often required stepping over tall, unstable walls or crouching into awkward, uncomfortable positions.

  • We found that many cold therapy enthusiasts cared deeply about where their products were made. They wanted something designed, manufactured, and assembled in the United States, ensuring high quality and ethical production.

  • Users wanted a low-maintenance solution, but many existing options required frequent water changes, difficult drainage, and excessive upkeep.

Innovation

What if

We set out to do more than fix common frustrations—we wanted to elevate the entire cold therapy experience. These questions shaped our vision, driving us to create something truly purpose-built for the practice.

Design

To create Ice Barrels that exceed the expectations of the therapy community, we brought together a team of material specialists, industrial designers, and manufacturing experts. Every detail—from the shape and size to the material selection and insulation—was designed with real-world performance in mind.

Through extensive prototyping and hands-on testing, we refined the product to go beyond both our high design standards and the expectations of our customers. This approach drove us to innovate in manufacturing, creating a process that seamlessly integrates breakthrough design with efficient, scalable production.

Accessibility First

  • By integrating step-in and step-over entry options, we made sure users of all levels could access cold therapy effortlessly, eliminating the awkward struggle of climbing into a deep tub.

  • To make ice baths more approachable, we designed the Ice Barrels with an upright immersion position that allows for better breathing and a more controlled experience.

Better Materials, Better Experience

  • We set out to build the most insulated product on the market, by optimizing both material selection and structural design, we created a product that keeps water colder for longer.

  • We chose rotomolded recycled materials, creating a durable, impact-resistant barrel that supports long-term use while reducing environmental impact. Built in the USA with high-quality craftsmanship.

Thoughtful Design

  • We designed a quick-drain system for fast water changes, making maintenance much more convenient.

  • We designed Ice Barrel with integrated chiller-ready ports, ensuring a seamless transition from using ice to a fully optimized cold therapy system. Whether starting with traditional ice baths or planning for a future upgrade, users can effortlessly connect a chiller whenever they’re ready

Results

Our insights didn’t just lead us to design an Ice Barrel—we designed two. Through extensive research, we discovered that no single product could meet the needs of every cold therapy practitioner. Body types, mobility levels, and user preferences varied, and we saw an opportunity to create a more inclusive and adaptable solution.

By applying the same design principles, insulation technology, and user-first approach, we developed two distinct barrels—each built for durability, accessibility, and performance. Whether users prioritize ease of entry, a more compact footprint, or deeper immersion, our dual-product approach ensures that everyone can experience cold therapy in a way that feels natural, effective, and seamlessly integrated into their routine.

User Experience

From the moment users stepped into their Ice Barrel, the feedback was clear—this was a game-changer for cold therapy. They loved how effortless it was to use, how long it kept water cold, and how it finally made ice baths feel like a seamless part of their routin.

The insulation exceeded expectations, dramatically reducing ice usage and keeping water colder for longer. The ergonomic design made full-body immersion comfortable and accessible, while the sleek, modern aesthetic allowed Ice Barrel to fit beautifully into any space—whether in a backyard, gym, or wellness studio.

  • First off, I came in one big box which is pretty convenient because there is no assembly and I was very happy about that. Not sure who loves it more myself or my daughters. After doing our first initial cold plunge, my girls woke up early the next morning, begging me to do another cold plunge first thing in the morning. We love this thing and has been a great investment so far. I will say I am an avid. , begging me to do another cold plunge first thing in the morning. We love this thing and has been a great investment so far. I will say I am a avid cold plunger and have been through four different models so far and this has been great.

  • Went from using a inflatable to this guy. My experience changed totally. I love not having to worry about popping the tube, or putting air in every week. A standing is so much better than having to lay down as well.

  • My wife is a very cold natured person and hates being cold. She swore she would never cold plunge when I made the Ice Barrel purchase and honestly I didn’t expect her to enjoy it. Fast forward 5 days and she’s the first one to bring up ice plunging in the morning and is singing the praises of cold exposure to everyone she knows. Very pleased and grateful for another fun challenge for us to tackle every day.

  • I love this thing, it’s the best cold plunge tub setup I’ve had to date yet or of any I’ve tried. Numerous friends and family have tried it and also love it. The well built structure and the insulation keep water surprisingly cold for long periods of time, much longer than other competitors.
